I used to look at a photo of my mom pregnant with me and think one simple thing.
"That's my mom."
That was it.
Then I became a mom.
Everything changed.
For the first time, I realized she wasn't always just my mom. She was a woman waiting to meet her baby. She felt every kick. She wondered who I would become. She dreamed about my future the same way I dreamed about my daughter, Iyla, and later my son, Ilen.
A photograph I had seen my entire life suddenly meant something completely different.
It wasn't just a picture anymore.
It was proof of a chapter of her life that I never got to experience.
It reminded me that before she was my mom, she was simply a mother, hoping, praying, and preparing to meet her child.
That realization has stayed with me ever since.
Today, we live in a world where almost anything can be created with artificial intelligence. We can generate faces that don't exist, create places we've never been, and even make moments that never happened.
It's incredible technology.
But it also reminds us how important the real moments are.
No amount of AI can recreate the way your partner looked at you during your maternity session.
It can't recreate the tiny wrinkles on your newborn's hands.
It can't recreate your toddler's uncontrollable laugh, the missing front teeth, the way they reached for your hand, or the look they gave you when they still believed you could fix anything.
Those moments happen once.
As a photographer, I don't believe I'm just taking pictures.
I'm preserving proof.
Proof that this season happened.
Proof that your family looked like this.
Proof that your children were this little.
Proof that you were here.
One day, your children won't just look at these photographs and see Mom or Dad.
They'll see two people building a life together.
They'll see the excitement before they were born.
They'll see how deeply they were loved before they ever took their first breath.
Just like I finally saw when I looked at that photo of my own mom.
That's why I believe professional photography matters more than ever.
Not because cameras are better.
Not because trends change.
But because the older we get, the more we realize that memories fade.
Photographs don't.

It's about preserving the moments that will mean even more years from now than they do today.
Because photos aren't really for today's version of you.
They're for the future version of you.
The parent who misses the little years.
The grandparent sharing stories with the next generation.

Those are the moments worth holding onto.
And those are the moments I'll never stop photographing.
